Weekend Recap

I hate to blow all this good information in one blog post, but here we go:

  • Friday. Ann, Bennett and I went to the Fire Department Christmas Dinner. It was a good time with great food and friendship. They did a good job of honoring those with had a long history with the department and those who have given much of their time over the last year. They also get in some pretty good jabs with gag gifts. Bennett ate two platefuls of pork loin (the event was catered by Dane’s restaurant — The Copper Kettle).
  • Saturday. Bennett spent the entire day in Junior Leadership Training with the Boy Scouts. He arrived at the Optimist Building on Saturday morning about 9am. He spent the night. I haven’t spoken with him much so I can’t give a good update. He was VERY tired when he got home. Apparently they concluded the lessons around 9pm and then it was video games and sugar until the lights went out at 5am.
  • Sunday. And why did the power go out at the Optimist Building? Because the Ashland area was hit with a major ice storm today. I was awaken by the fire pager about 4am and I didn’t get back home until 10am or so. We ran many calls related to downed limbs and power lines. Nothing too serious, but they had us running in several directions at once. No rest for the weary. Below are some pictures of our winter wonderland.
