Thunderbird campout

Bennett and I just got back from Camp Thunderbird near Moberly MO. We enjoyed two days/nights of wilderness survival training with the Boy Scouts. Bennett earned badges for fire making and cutting (ax, knife…). He also built a lean-to shelter out of a tarp in which he spent the first night, and helped three other boys construct a primitive shelter made out of limbs in which he spent the second night. He was especially proud of the latter. I didn’t get a picture of the actual shelter because my camera went on the blink, but the last picture you’ll see below was similar to what they built.

It’s awesome to see him become so independent. He absolutely LOVES being a Boy Scout. He’s already setting goals to make first class level and Eagle Scout.

Sorry for a short post. I’ve got to get ready for my business trip tomorrow. When I get back late Tuesday night I’m heading straight to Mark Twain Lake to help Scott put away the RV for the winter. As I said before, posts will be sporadic and short this week.

Take care!
