Some sports news that affected us yesterday:

  • MU Volleyball lost in three sets to #1 Nebraska. We fought them hard in the first set, but then fell apart in the 2nd and 3rd set. I did get a chance to see Chris & Mary Brandlen again as they helped chaperone the Francis Howell volleyball team who were in attendance.

Here’s an excerpt from official website: “The Tigers just narrowly missed becoming the first Big 12 team to win a set against the No. 1 Cornhuskers this season, as a late 29-28 lead slipped away from Missouri in front of a jam-packed Hearnes Center crowd of 6,059, the third-largest in program history. The Tigers were never able to recover from the devastating game one loss, as the Cornhuskers went on to earn their 16th sweep of the season.”

  • Bennett and Ann didn’t go to the volleyball game with me because Bennett had Tae Kwon Do. However, due to bad weather, Ann decided to stay home. We had tornado watches all evening and some extremely high winds (60mph+). Barring any more bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, I will take Bennett to Tae Kwon Do this evening.
  • Priest Holmes returned to practice with the Kansas City Chiefs as their scout back. The reports are that he has worked EXTREMELY hard getting back into shape. He must be doing something right as the Chiefs traded away their #2 running back to Tampa Bay (although this also had something to do with the development of rookie Kolby Smith). I look for Priest to be getting 8-10 touches in a game very soon.
