MU Volleyball back on track

If you haven’t seen the MU volleyball team play, and you can’t get to the Hearnes Center to watch in person, you have a great opportunity to watch them this Wednesday evening on Fox Sports Midwest or Fox Sports Rockies at 7:30pm Central time. They take on the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder CO.

The match last night was one of the best we’ve seen in several years. Luckily the Brandlens got to share it with us. MU beat the 25th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners last night in five games. The loss was the first for Oklahoma in conference play, and first since September 8 against San Diego.

MU won the first two games, playing almost flawlessly. All aspects of the game were clicking. We lost the third game, but it was back-and-forth. We eventually lost 35-33, but the exchange at the end was fast and furious. (FYI — Volleyball games are over at 30 points, but you must win by two.)

MU looked terrible in game 4, losing 30-23, but we won game 5 by a nose hair. Really exciting stuff.

Sophomore Lei Wang (Shanghai, China) led the way for the Tigers with a triple-double, tallying 10 kills, 49 assists, and 15 digs. It was the first Missouri triple-double since Christi Myers pulled off the feat on September 22, 2001, against Texas A&M.
