The Big Cat moves on

The “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd passed away today. He was in his late 60s. Ernie was a star in football at Grambling University. He was drafted by the upstart AFL San Diego Chargers were he was a three-time all star.

He ended his career as a KC Chief. If you look at the players carrying Hank Stram off the field immediately following their Super Bowl victory, Ernie is one of the guys.

Towards the end of his career, he had started to dabble in wrestling. After his retirement from football, he became a star. He wrestled in Florida, Georgia and the WWWF in the Northeast. He had feuds with all the major stars of the day.
