Will the Chiefs say goodbye to Trent?

With the signing of former backup Damon Huard to a new, multi-year, multi-million contract, it’s a good chance that Trent Green has played his last game as a Chief. The Chiefs want to groom last year’s 2nd round pick — Brodie Croyle of Alabama — for the eventual starting job in 2-3 years.

What they need is a stopgap measure. Huard offered everything they needed at the right price. With Trent Green due to count $8MM against the cap next year, and a coach wanting to bring in his own players, the writing is on the wall.

I hope Trent lands somewhere that gets him into the Super Bowl. It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. He’s a true team player.
